How to Select Materials Based on Fabricability and Cost?

The following three steps constitute the scientific framework of “Selection of Metal Fabrication Materials”. Please analyze them step by step in accordance with the actual situation of your project.

Step 1 · Clearly define the usage environment and functional requirements

Is corrosion resistance required?
→ Yes: Stainless steel (or carbon steel + heavy coating)
→ No: Carbon steel or aluminum

Is lightweighting required?
→ Yes: Aluminum (higher specific strength)
→ No: Carbon steel (lowest cost)

Is electrical conductivity or heat conductivity required?
→ Copper or aluminum should be given priority.
